Fletcher offered an Oil Major an innovative solution for a cluster of platforms and, in doing so, created cost savings and provided an opportunity to share spare capacity with other fields in the vicinity.
This solution provided the necessary ERRV support, reduced the number of dedicated straight PSVs serving in the field, and eliminated the occasions where PSVs and ERRV would be in the field together. One PSV/ERRV remains in the field and returns to port with back-load when relieved by the second PSV/ERRV bringing out cargo, fuel and water. The regular cargo deliveries also help eliminate the need for special crew change port visits, as these can be incorporated into the regular round trips.
The use of the converted UT 705’s provides large capacity for deck and under-deck cargoes, and reduced extra PSV time in the field. In addition, their low displacement allows the vessels to work alongside the mature offshore assets.
